Education

Developing strong Christian families is an essential part and purpose of this church. Families are finding at First Presbyterian a wide range of opportunities for their children and youth to grow and participate.

Sunday Programs

9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

  • Children’s Church gathers children Pre-K through Grade Seven for Bible stories taught through the media of story telling, drama, crafts, and music.
  • Confirmation Class is a year long period of instruction for eighth graders to prepare them to make their personal confession of Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord and become active members of Christ’s Church. Prior to appearing before the Elders and the Congregation on the first Sunday in June, they take an oral test and write a personal theology statement.
  • Senior High Study Group enjoys bagels and coffee while they discuss how Christian faith speaks to the issues and concerns of their lives.
  • Adult Bible Study is open to all adults in the church and is a discussion group that confronts biblical text, reflects on its meaning, and makes life applications.

10:20 a.m. – 11:20 a.m.

  • Sunday school provides a class for each grade level, designed to capture the interest of children. In fourth grade a portion of the year prepares young men and women for First Communion, at which time they receive a Bible from the church. On Communion Sundays the sacrament is given to teachers and students after the worship service.
